New meditation center opening in Bethesda (Photo)

A meditation trend seems to be picking up steam in downtown Bethesda, and St. Elmo Avenue is becoming the most mindful street in town. Only a month after Just Meditate opened its doors at 4928 St. Elmo, now Sahaja Yoga Meditation Center Bethesda will do the same this coming Saturday, January 14, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Sahaja is just down the street at 4915 St. Elmo.

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, who once lived with her parents in the ashram of Mahatma Gandhi, founded Sahaja Yoga in 1970. The method taught at Sahaja, where classes are apparently offered free of charge, is centered on the experience of Self-Realization known as kundalini awakening. The website promises you will "feel the kundalini power" on the top of your head, and on your fingertips.

You can RSVP online for the free open house Saturday, but Sahaja says drop-ins are also welcome.

What a wonderful place to open. Meditation can be key in alleviating anxiety and stress and improving overall health, both physically and mentally.

Maybe you should try it @8:15AM. You might not be so mad at the world.

9:51 - Not "mad at the world", just dislike bullshit and fraud such as this:

"...promises you will 'feel the kundalini power' on the top of your head, and on your fingertips."

It's an awareness, not unlike the sensation of concentrating on your breathing, or centering yourself.

Are any of the escalating auto thefts and home burgularies being solved in Bethesda?
It would be a great aspect of the blog to have Montgomery county police to provide an update to concerned residents
